What to Expect From Your First Day of Dance

MaddieProjectImageWe have just one more week of summer here at Atlanta Dance Central before we start our enrollment classes for the school year.  This week is a great time to stop by and check out the studio, register for classes, and purchase dress code items.  Our ADC Faculty can’t wait to get started next week.  We are excited to welcome back students from last year, and meet brand new faces for this year.  For students, we know that starting dance again is exciting, but it can also be a little nerve-wracking. While some of our students are brand new to the studio, we are excited that some of our students from last year are branching out and taking a new style of dance.  We have put together a list of first day expectations to make all of our students feel as comfortable as possible on their first day, week, and month back!

  1. Be ready to meet new friends & faces!  We will all be introducing ourselves on the first day back.  Get ready to make some new dance friends, and even meet some new faculty members.  Ms. Sara and Ms. Ashley will be joining us this year, and they are eager to meet new students.  Remember that this will be your dance class for the next 9 months, so don’t be afraid to get to know the friends you are dancing with!
  2. Be patient with yourself.  Sometimes trying something new can feel completely awkward, and this is especially true in a dance class!  Even professional dancers who are trying a new dance style can feel like their coordination took a vacation.  It takes a few weeks for your body to get used to a new dance style, or even to get back in shape, so make sure you are patient with yourself as you start back.
  3. Make sure you are dressed properly, are well hydrated, and are ready to move!  We will definitely be getting started and will be dancing on the first day back, so make sure you have done everything you can to be prepared.  It is important to be dressed properly so you can dance to your fullest potential.  Make sure to drink plenty of water before and after dance class to keep your body in tip top shape!

The first day back to dance is going to be a blast, so most importantly make sure you are ready to have fun!  We can’t wait to see you!
