What to Expect from ADC’s Ballet Intensive

The Ballet Intensive at Atlanta Dance Central is a great way to get your technique back in shape before the dance season begins again.  Whether you have been taking class in summer, or taking a break from dance, the intensive will be five days of intense ballet training.  The intensive is August 5 – 9 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.  Here's what to expect!

Resident faculty members Mary Ann and Andrea will be teaching 2 hour technique classes, along with guest instructor Regine Metayer. Regine last taught at Atlanta Dance Central for the ARTistry convention in November 2012. Regine grew up studying dance in Haiti before receiving her B.F.A. from Florida State University. She has performed professionally in New York City with Ballet NY and Brooklyn Ballet, among other companies. She currently dances here in Atlanta with Ballethnic Dance Company. We love having Regine here to push our dancers and give them a different perspective in the classroom!

The two hour technique classes will consist of classical ballet, and at the end of the week some contemporary ballet with Ms. Andrea. Pre-Pointe and Pointe classes will also be taking place for dancers to either prepare for pointe shoes or gain their pointe strength back after the summer break. In the last hour of the intensive each day, Ms. Mary Ann will be teaching variations from the ballet “Swan Lake.”

The week of the ballet intensive will be challenging, with instructors teaching ballet from all angles, but will definitely be rewarding! Make sure to be in your ballet best, with a perfect ballet bun, and to bring your water bottle to stay hydrated in class! We can't wait to see you then!
