Get to know Mr. Jeremy!

/ by admin / Leave a Comment

JeremyBlogPicThis is Mr. Jeremy's second year teaching at Atlanta Dance Central, but he has been behind the scenes since it's build out!  Mr. Jeremy teaches a fierce Dance Conditioning class to provide cross training for the dancers here.  If you haven't taken the class you should definitely try it out!

1. Where are you from?
I was born in Hackettstown, NJ but I grew up in Stone Mountain, GA.
2. When did you start dancing?
I started dancing in my junior year of college at UGA. One of my roommates convinced me to take a P.E. ballroom class and I like it so much I auditioned for the Ballroom Performance Group at UGA. I spent a semester as an apprentice before joining the company as a full member.  I was “recruited” from there into the ballet pas de deux class. That class piqued my interested enough to push me into taking an introductory ballet class my senior year. After college, I continued with ballroom dance in Contact Dance Theatre out of Athens. I eventually guest performed with Ms Charlotte's professional company SIDEWAYS before joining them as a full-time member.Growing up, I loved playing sports and being active but I never “worked out” at a gym until college. I quickly found joy there in setting and achieving goals and finding different ways to work and push my body. I continued working out through and after college, experimenting with different methods and styles, and working towards various goals. I discovered CrossFit in 2009 and was immediately hooked. I received my CrossFit Level 1 certificate in October 2011 and have been coaching since then. I plan on getting my CrossFit Kids certificate in January 2013.

3. Why do you love teaching?

There are 3 major reasons why I love teaching.

  1.  I love being able to share information that I've spent time and effort accumulating and coalescing with people who are willing and eager to receive the information.
  2. When it comes to fitness, I love the positive influence that exercise can have on peoples' lives and the impact on their physical, mental, and even spiritual and emotional well-being.
  3. I love seeing students' progress over time and the joy they get in accomplishing something they previously thought impossible for themselves.

4.What do you like to do outside of dancing?

JeremyandcharlottehalloweenCrossFit, of course. Outside of that, I enjoy spending time with my dogs, playing softball, working in the yard/garden, cooking a good meal, reading, spending time with my friends, and spending time with my fiance Ms Charlotte!

So there you have it!  Mr. Jeremy is passionate about dance and fitness, and we love having him as a part of our team to help share his knowledge with our dancers.  For more information about our instructors, or our programming visit www.atlantadancecentral.com!
