ART Takes UGA!

/ by admin / Leave a Comment

ART UGA 2This past Friday, members of Atlanta Rising Talent took a special field trip to the University of Georgia!  After taking the trip last year, we couldn't pass up another opportunity to take class on the college level and tour one of Georgia's beautiful schools.  Ms. Charlotte and Ms. Mary Ann both graduated from the University of Georgia's dance program.  They have a wonderful faculty, and the program features strong modern and ballet technique.

Members of Atlanta Rising Talent were given the opportunity to spend the day as a college student. They started their day with ballet and jazz class. They also got to see a brief performance by members of the ballet ensemble, who performed professional and historical variations. Lunch was a real college lunch, in the dining hall! After lunch, the students took a contemporary class.

Next, we surprised our ART dancers by telling them they were putting on a show of their own. They showed ballet faculty members a preview of their upcoming performance of Swan Lake. The preview turned into a thirty minute rehearsal, filled with wonderful feedback and encouragement for our beautiful ballerinas! After the rehearsal, our dancers walked around campus, took a short campus bus ride, and ate in the university center.

The day ended with an amazing performance by the CORE Concert Dance Company! The trip was a wonderful experience, and the girls were able to experience what dancing at the college level is like. We plan on continuing this annual tradition. Thank you to everyone at UGA who made this trip a memorable one! We can't wait to come back!
