The First Day of Dance is coming and it is one of the most exciting times of year. Students will be filling up the studio, trying on new shoes, meeting new teachers and classmates, and some will be taking their very first dance class. EVER! Here are some tips for how to be ready for the first class of the season:
- Make sure you have everything you need before the first day. Check to make sure you have the correct dress code items. If you have danced before, make sure you know where those items are (fingers crossed they aren't still in the bottom of your recital bag) and that they still fit. Come in during office hours to try on new shoes or dress code items. If you are missing something that first day we'll have it here, but the first couple weeks are always pretty packed at the front desk.
- Prepare yourself for Lobby Overstimulation! One of the great things about ADC is that we have so many awesome families. The first day of class is exciting for everyone, and often times the lobby is packed with parents talking, children excited to see their friends, and staff guiding students to their classroom. It can be noisy, busy, and even a little bit crazy. Don't get overwhelmed! We're all here for the same reason, which is to have an incredible season.
- Let Yourself Relax. Summer can leave dancers a little bit out of the groove. Some students and families may be starting their journey at ADC! We want to encourage all of our students to relax and have fun. New students may be trying things for the first time. Students who have dance with us before may be trying a new style, or may not feel as confident as they did at the end of the season. Give yourself time to catch on to new things and get back in the swing of things!
- Arrive Early. Getting to the studio about 10 minutes early is enough time to change shoes, use the restroom, figure out where your classroom is, and feel prepared. The first day of class is an important time for students to get to know their teachers and their fellow students. You don't want to miss that valuable time! Arriving early gives students the confidence they need to star the season on the right foot.
We have been working hard to prepare for another great season here at ADC. We want to give a big thank you to all of the families who have been dancing with us for multiple seasons and a warm welcome to everyone who will be joining us for the very first time. We'll see you soon!
