Catch the Light: Fall Pointe Approvals

/ by admin / Leave a Comment

img_6689Pointe approvals are a very exciting time in a ballet student's life.  Here at ADC, we are pretty conservative about our approval process.  There isn't a certain age or ballet level where everyone gets approved.  We look at each student individually and assess their level of technique and maturity.  Approvals usually happen in December and in May.  This past Thursday was a very special moment for 5 of our students who were approved for pointe.

Ms. Mary Ann, Ms. Charlotte, and Ms. Andrea brought all of the Teen and Senior ART Company members together for this surprise announcement.  The students didn't know that pointe approvals were happening, or how many of their peers would be promoted.  Ms. Andrea and Ms. Mary Ann called the names out one by one.  As each name was called cheers erupted and the students were showered in congratulatory hugs from friends.

After the approvals, Ms. Andrea met with the girls to discuss what this promotion meant.  That is when some magic happened.  One of the students approved shared that three years ago when she was setting short and long term goals for herself, she set a long term goal to be approved for pointe by the end of 2016.  While she was telling that story, her classmate said she had the same goal!

Wow!  We were blown away by the level of commitment all of these students have had to reaching the goals they set for themselves.  It is hard for anyone to work toward a goal that seems so far away, especially young students!  We are so proud of all of our students who set goals for themselves and do not stop until they are reached.

Big congratulations to Maddie, Morgan, Mia, Stella, and Lindsey for reaching your goals last Thursday!
