We are extremely excited about the dance performances that are coming to Atlanta this spring! Attending performances is fun, inspiring, and helps support other professionals in our field. Whether you have a young dancer in your family, or are a sophisticated viewer, there are plenty of must-see shows this spring!
First up, on February 15 and 16 the Atlanta Ballet Fellowship Ensemble is presenting Pinocchio! This children-friendly performance is on both days at 2 p.m., and is only 1 hour long! Tickets start as low as $10, and this fun show will be held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre!
That same week, February 13 – 16, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is coming to The Fox Theater in Atlanta. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater features some of the most talented dancers in the country. While each show will feature different repertory, all of the performances will close with Revelations. Revelations is a phenomenal dance masterpiece and American classic that is a must see for any dance student or supporter.
The Atlanta Ballet will present its annual Modern Choreographic Voices at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre March 21 – 23. This show is for more mature dance students and audiences. The show will feature choreography by three choreographers. Ohad Naharin will be returning after last year's performance of Minus 16 left audiences wanting more! Atlanta Ballet's Tara Lee will be presenting a world premiere, and Alexei Ratmansky, the former director of the Bolshoi Ballet, will also be presenting work. This should be quite a diverse performance!
Pilobolus is coming to the Ferst Center for the Arts at Georgia Tech on April 5. Former company member, Beth Lewis, taught at our ARTistry Dance Convention this year! Pilobolus is a modern dance collective that features innovative partnering work and weight sharing, which allows the dancers to create interesting shapes and movements. They have performed both nationally and internationally, as well as on T.V!
We are extremely excited to see The Lion King this spring at The Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Students of ADC have studied the Lion King in class and are excited to see the intricate costuming, set design, and of course choreography! The Lion King will be at The Fox from April 10 – April 27.
Don't miss your chance to support the arts and see some wonderful performances this season!
