Atlanta Dance Performances in October!

/ by admin / Leave a Comment

If you really have a passion for dance like we do here at Atlanta Dance Central, you are interested in seeing all dance has to offer!  Going to live dance performances is exciting, inspiring, and just makes for a fun night out with the family.  October is almost here so we wanted to share some of the performances we are excited for with you!  Here are some dance events that are happening around Atlanta for the month of October:

  • Flamenco Crossroads:  Saturday, October 6 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.  Rina Menosky and Arte De Vida are presenting this live Flamenco dance performance along with live music!  The performance will be at the Red Door Playhouse in Roswell, GA (right around the corner from us!).  Tickets are just $5 for children under the age of 10, and the $20 adult tickets INCLUDE wine & tapas.  This sounds like a fun night out!
  • The Firebird and Serenade: Saturday, October 20 at 7 p.m. & Sunday, October 21 at 2 p.m. Don't get confused, these are two separate ballets, performed by The Georgia Ballet!  Janusz Mazon's “The Firebird” is a ballet featuring fantasy, magic, princesses and princesses.  Serenade is choreographed by New York City Ballet founder George Balanchine.  You may recognize this ballet because we learned pieces from Serenade at our summer intensive!  All of our ballet students studied The Firebird last spring, and will be studying Serenade this coming spring.  Even better, the Sunday 2 p.m. performance will feature a Firebird egg hunt for the younger audience members!  Check it out at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre/ Cobb Civic Center.
  • The Sutra Project: Friday, October 26 and Saturday October 27 at 8 p.m. For our modern dance enthusiasts, Gathering Wild Dance Company, directed by Jerylann Warner combines dance, live music and visual art.  Featuring music by the Joe Palese Trio, you can find this performance at the 7 Stages Theater in Little 5 Points!
  • Frankenstein's Frolic: Sunday, October 28 from 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Join SIDEWAYS Contemporary Dance Company, Atlanta Rising Talent, and Foster-Schmidt Dance Academy for Down Syndrome as they host Frankenstein's Frolic!  Frankenstein's Frolic is a Halloween themed carnival and dance performance, and is fun for ALL ages.  The carnival will be held at Atlanta Dance Central, and will have dance performances throughout the day!

The Atlanta dance scene definitely has something for everyone this October!   Let us know what you thought of the shows, or if you are looking forward to a dance event that we didn't list here!
