Jazz and Acro Class for Ages 4 – 5!

/ by admin / 1 Comment

adc-344If your child loves to move and groove while listening to music around the house, chances are they would enjoy participating in a dance class.  Often times when we think of dance classes for four or five year olds, we picture students in puffy tutus, twirling and doing ballet.  There are more options for young students here at Atlanta Dance Central!  We also offer a high energy jazz class for students ages 4 to 5 year old!

Jazz/Acro is an action packed class with fun, up-beat, age appropriate music!  Students begin class with an acrobatics themed warm up that helps build their strength, coordination, and muscle tone.  Often times we start class with an “animal game.”  This is a series of imitation animal movements such as frog jumps, bear crawls, and crab walks that help get young student's bodies (and brains!) ready for class.  The dancers then work on basic acrobatic skills, eventually building up to forward rolls and handstands in a safe environment!  After the acro warm up, students move into a jazz class.

Jazz vocabulary overlaps with ballet vocabulary, so students who aren't interested in taking a ballet class will still learn technical skills.  Musicality and learning about rhythm is also an important part of jazz class that we incorporate when doing center and across the floor exercises.  The jazz acro class is a fast-paced class that is sure to keep your dancer moving and having fun!

If your child is making up dances to every television introduction song there is, chances are they would have a blast in jazz/acro class.  They will be building strength, learning about dance, and having fun without ever having to put on a leotard.  For more information about jazz/acro, or about any of the classes we offer here at Atlanta Dance Central, give us a call today!
